Near the city hall, nice hotel with friendly staff that offers dormitories and private rooms. It is ok but not very well maintained.
Dormitory : 24 euros, single : 35 euros, double : from 50 to 62 euros

Mid-range
Hôtel Eden Montmartre
All comfort, friendly and calm place. The rooms on the backyard will be more peaceful. Book directly on the hotel's website to get cheaper rooms.
Single : 78 euros, double around 90 euros.

Stylish
Ermitage Hôtel
Very close to the Sacré Coeur, charming hotel with only 12 rooms. It is better to book well in advance. The best rooms are those with access to the backyard or those with view on Paris.

Other place near the Canal Saint Martin
St Christopher's Inns and Belushi's
A bright new youth hotel has just opened in the 19th district. It is much further from the city hall and the Teinturerie de Plumes but you can use a Velib (the self service bike hire system) to get there. The place is full of backpackers.
